Natalie Portman, star of this week's Lucy in the Sky alongside Jon Hamm, stopped by The Tonight Show Wednesday to talk randomly spotting Questlove at a Hollywood Forever screening of Psycho, a recent Instagram flashback, and that major Thor announcement.

Asked if she had any idea that the Thor franchise would include the storyline in which her character Jane goes full Thor, Portman confirmed that it was a surprise for her too.

"I did not know," she said. "I mean, I was aware there was a storyline but I didn’t know they were actually planing on doing that in the movies. I'm very lucky."

When Fallon noted the often high stakes of announcing such a thing at San Diego Comic-Con (as Portman did over the summer), Portman agreed.

"It was definitely nerve-wracking, like, someone's going to call me out for something," she said of the big moment. "I didn't get to practice [holding the hammer] ahead of time, so I picked it up and it was kinda heavy. It's really exciting."

Elsewhere on Wednesday's Tonight Show, Portman also joined the host for a bit of Mad Lib Theater:

As for more on Thor: Love and Thunder, the film is set to arrive on Nov. 5, 2021. As Portman told Entertainment Tonight last month, the idea of working with Taika Waititi, Tessa Thompson, and Chris Hemsworth again is indeed exciting.
