Jordan Peele understands that his striking and instantly recognizable Tethered characters are perfect for Halloween costumes. Unsettling and simply dressed in red jumpsuits, the characters are catnip for folks in need of a costume. Even so, the UsĀ director said that he has no interest in seeing his spooky creations brought to life.

ā€œNow, in Halloween season, Iā€™ve started receiving a lot of people in Tethered costumes, which, it doesnā€™t make me comfortable,ā€ Peele told Variety. ā€œYou know, I like the fact that the movie is happening, itā€™s a phenomenon, itā€™s resonating, itā€™s iconic ā€” but, I donā€™t know, thereā€™s something about ā€¦ itā€™s like, theyā€™re impersonating the stalkers and sending me stuff.ā€

Peele said that he didn't like people playing around in the unhinged headspace of his murderous, subterranean monsters.

"I just feel like, just donā€™t go into that mindset,ā€ he said.Ā

Here's a disclaimer:Ā If you happen to be Jordan Peele, turn back now. Here's a few of our favorite takes on the Untethered, including the cast of Black-ish.
