Fresh off its global premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, Trey Edward ShultsA24-backed drama Waves let loose a new trailer set to the sounds of Frank Ocean on Thursday.

Kelvin Harrison Jr., Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, Alexa Demie, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Sterling K. Brown star.

Speaking on the "rare and audacious" structural decision at the heart of the Waves narrative, writer Sean Fennessey praised the film's personal story rooted in South Florida as "the kind of movie that punches you in the gut, and then slashes your Achilles as you reach for your stomach" in a review for The Ringer.

"This one is pretty special," Brown told fans when sharing the new trailer. "As proud as I've ever been of anything in my career. Please come check it out."

Shults, who's previously dropped A24 entires including It Comes at Night and Krisha, said way back in 2017 that he hoped to one day do a Kanye West biopic. Waves is not that film, though he did tease in the same Independentinterview that West would enjoy his next project, which presumably was a reference to Waves.

"I just want to chill out with Kanye and make something great," he said at the time. "I think he'll like this next movie that I'm writing."

Waves opens nationwide Nov. 1. Per Collider, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross fans will be stoked to learn that the film's original score was handled by the cinematically prolific duo.
