The Emmys are a thing that happened, bringing both an inspiring assortment of well-earned award honorees and plenty of pre-broadcast chatter of the traditional boredom-ensuring vapidity variety. Yet, it's hard not to find something to enthrall you within a certain red carpet moment centered on the soon-to-retire Terrence Howard.
"Everyone keeps trying to tell me 'Don't say it's forever,'" Howard said on the red carpet when asked about his retirement announcement, specifically with regards to whether he was planning to make it a permanent exit or merely a temporary hiatus. "But I spent 37 years pretending to be people so that people can pretend to watch and enjoy what I'm doing, when I've made some discoveries in my own personal life with the science that, you know, Pythagoras was searching for."
Elaborating further, Howard said he's been "able to open up the flower of life properly" and is currently excited about sharing this flower-opening mindset with the rest of the world.
"Why would I continue, you know, walking on water for tips when I've got an entire generation to teach a whole new world?" he said. Asked to clarify, Howard stated his belief that straight lines do not exist.
"Well, let me put it this way," he said. "All energy in the universe is expressed in motion, all motion is expressed in waves, all waves are curves. So where does the straight line come from to make the Platonic solids? There are no straight lines."
Howard said toward the end of the above clip that later this week he's planning to complement his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony with a YouTube release of some kind in which he's going to "build the planet Saturn without gravity and build the Milky Way galaxy without gravity."

As for that retirement, Howard said earlier this month that he will instead be focusing on "bringing truth to the world." Empire, meanwhile, will end after its soon-to-premiere sixth season.
