Breaking Bad fans who have been holding out for the movie won't have to wait long. Bob Odenkirk, who plays Saul in the series, said that the movie is already in the can
“I’ve heard so many different things about it, but I am excited about the Breaking Bad movie. I can’t wait to see it…I don’t know what people know and don’t know," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I find it hard to believe you don’t know it was shot. They did it. You know what I mean? How is that a secret? But it is. They’ve done an amazing job of keeping it a secret.”
While stars of the series have teased fans about the movie with cryptic messages, Odenkirk just broke some of the most concrete news about the film so far. In other reports, we learned that the movie is a joint venture between AMC and Netflix, potentially airing on AMC in installments, and as a single movie on the streaming service. The movie is reported to be a sequel, following Jesse Pinkman in the wake of the series finale.
For fans looking to soak up as much Breaking Bad news as possible, Odenkirk was forthcoming with information about the fifth season of Better Call Saul as well.
"Now it’s turning rapidly, I would say. That’s similar to Breaking Bad, too. This very slow buildup as we go up the roller-coaster ramp and then, it starts going downhill, it just cannot stop. And that's where we are in season five, which we’re shooting right now," he said. "Season five is just everything's on fire, and it’s just burning down around us."
After Odenkirk's comments, a sharp-eyed Reddit user posted a screenshot of a placeholder for a Netflix project calledEl Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. The image shows the flick will focus on Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and was written and directed by Vince Gilligan, the series' creator.
