What stands between audiences and a third 'Kill Bill' is Tarantino's stated intention to retire from filmmaking after his tenth movie.

Quentin Tarantino has alluded to the possibility of Kill Bill Vol. 3 countless times, but a definitive green light has yet to be presented. During a recent interview, Tarantino continued to drop hints, but this time he claimed that he and lead actress Uma Thurman discussed the third installment as recently as last week.

“Me and Uma have talked about it recently, frankly, to tell you the truth,” Tarantino said on MTV’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “I have thought about it a little further. We were talking about it literally last week. If any of my movies were going to spring from my other movies, it would be a third Kill Bill.’”

The premise for Vol. 3 has already been discussed by Tarantino, who would focus the third film on the now-adult daughter of Vernita Green, who was killed at the hands of Beatrix (Thurman), seeking vengeance. Although one major setback stands in the way between audiences and a third Kill Bill: Tarantino's intention to retire from filmmaking after his tenth movie.

The filmmaker's most recent film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood marks his ninth, which means there's only room for one last project. During an interview with GQ Australia earlier this month, Tarantino reiterated that his career is on the brink of changing. “I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road," he told the outlet. "I see myself writing film books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”

Tarantino also might be making a new Star Trek movie. "I actually think, if I was going to do Star Trek, I should commit to it. It's my last movie," the director said in an interview with CinemaBlend. "There should be nothing left handed about it. I don't know if I'm going to do that, but that might happen."

Only time will tell which movie Tarantino decides on to be his final film.
