Pete Davidson doesn't seem to care about the public's speculation surrounding his relationship with Kate Beckinsale. Rather than taking that as a hint that we shouldn't care either, his SNL comments about their age difference have followers chirping their reactions all over the internet.
While appearing on Weekend Update, Davidson addressed the R. Kelly sexual abuse scandal, which he compared to the Catholic Church, and added a bit at the end where he mentioned he and Beckinsale's romance. "Apparently people have a crazy fascination with our age difference," he said at the 3:15 mark. "But it doesn't really bother us."
The 25-year-old comedian admitted he's inexperienced when it comes to the whole "having a partner who's from another generation" thing, as Beckinsale is 20 years his senior. Rather than explaining the gap, Davidson listed off the male celebrities who have notably dated women much younger than them.
"I'm new to this," he said. "So if you have questions about a relationship with a big age difference, just ask Leonardo DiCaprio, Jason Statham, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere, Jeff Goldblum, Scott Disick, Dane Cook, Derek Jeter, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee, Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn, and whoever the president of France is. Mel Gibson, Billy Joel, Mick Jagger, Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy, Kelsey Grammer, Larry King, Larry King, Larry King, Rod Stewart, and Donald Trump." The audience let out a roar of laughter after Davidson pointed out the obvious double standard.
Davidson and Beckinsale's relationship has been speculated for months. After the two were seen being flirty at several events, they indirectly confirmed their relationship while making out at a New York Rangers game, which they attended with Queer Eye's Antoni Porowski. When a photo of the three of them inspired countless memes, given Antoni's unintentional yet uncomfortable expression, Beckinsale responded to the slew of trolls and seemingly confirmed their relationship.
