For the show, the actor revealed the “exclusive world premiere” of the mock biopic Mambo No. 5, where Morgan told the origins of Lou Bega’s 1999 hit of the same name. The spoof begins with Morgan as the man born David Lubega telling his father he wants to be a mambo star, and not work in a paprika mine alongside his dad.
Bega's dreams come to fruition later, when he’s shown in a studio working on lyrics for the song. “A little bit of pineapple—no,” Morgan says, scolding himself. “A little bit of Italian sausage sandwich. NO!” Soon afterward, a few women file in and out, becoming the inspiration for the names in the single.
But the issue of the track's name is still at stake, conceived with the help of a ponytail-wearing producer, aka Kimmel. The fake trailer comes with fictional reviews and a Nobel Prize win.
Morgan is set to star in What Men Want, alongside Taraji P. Henson, on Feb. 8. Directed by Adam Shankman, the movie features Henson’s character acquiring the ability to read men’s minds, like Mel Gibson in the 2000 iteration What Women Want. Morgan also has Season 2 of his Tiffany Haddish collab The Last O.G. coming in April.
