DC shared the trailer for their long-awaited continuation of the cult superhero series Young Justice. According to the clip promoting Young Justice: Outsiders, the first new episodes of the show since 2013 will premiere in January of next year.

The trailer shows plenty of both The Team — the young superheroes like Aqualad and Oracle who give the series its name — and The Outsiders, a conglomeration of older heroes like Superman and Nightwing.

According to DC, the third season of the cartoon will follow The Team and The Outsiders as they attempt to stop criminals trafficking in young superheroes. The trailer makes it clear that young "metahumans" are being captured and sold to be used as weapons.

Warner Bros. promises "a huge cast of DC's most iconic young super heroes," plus brand-new characters, many of whom are just discovering their unique meta-powers and special abilities." They say that the series takes place in "a rich, deep world that touches all corners of the DC universe" with young capes taking on baddies from across the cosmos involved in an "intergalactic arms race."

The reboot of Young Justice will premiere on DC's own streaming service DC Universe on January 4, 2019. Give the trailer a watch up top.

Young Justice is far from the only kids-oriented DC property making its way back to the small screen. A gritty reimagining of Teen Titans — simply called Titans — generated quite a bit of buzz when its version of the Boy Wonder unambiguously stated "Fuck Batman" in the trailer. Titans writer Geoff Johns explained that the outburst wasn't just edginess for edge's sake.

"If you look at when Robin first left Batman in the comics, there was a lot of uneasiness and him being lost. Titans is really a series about these different characters that are all lost in their lives; just like the greatest comic book Titans run ever, by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, it’s about all these lost characters find one another," he said in an interview with Polygon. "And they’re all struggling with something, and Robin is clearly struggling with his past with Batman."
