Jon Hamm on Possibly Portraying Batman: 'Why Not?'

The internet has been demanding Jon Hamm to portray Batman for years and they may get their wish. Jon Hamm said he'd be interested in playing Batman if he's given the opportunity and the script is right.

Ben Affleck is the latest actor to portray Batman but he reportedly won't be reprising the role for the future DCEU films. But, Jon Hamm is willing to throw his name in the ring to play the famed Gotham vigilante.

Hamm said there have been demands from the internet for him to play Batman since Mad Men's first season. "I think the internet wants what it wants. But, I mean, a lot of people have to sign off on that, obviously not just the internet," said Hamm on In Depth with Graham Bensinger. But he'd be willing to take on the role...with the right script.

"It depends on the script, what the story is," continued Hamm. "I am a huge comic book fan, always have been. I've read comic books since I was nine or younger. And I'm pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like when they're done well."

He admits that he'd have to head to the gym as well.

"I'd probably fit the suit. I'd have to work out a lot, which I don't love," he continued. "But, I am sure there's an interesting version of that being out there. And if they wanted to tap me on the shoulder and ask me to do it, why not?"

Hamm's comments come shortly after rumors spread about Henry Cavill not returning to play Superman. Cavill has since posted an odd Instagram video. In the clip, Cavill wears a shirt reading "Krypton Lifting Team" and slowly lifts up a Superman action figure into the frame.

Although he remains silent throughout the clip, fans speculate that he's still on for playing the caped hero.
