Spoiler alert for those who haven't seen Insecure's episode five.

Stand up, Lawrence Hive! He's back.

Ahead of season three's premiere, the Insecure cast was adamant that Issa Rae's onscreen ex-boyfriend, Lawrence, wouldn't make a return to the series. Back in April, Jay Ellis, who portrays Lawrence, said he didn't shoot any scenes for the season and claimed to be "out of the loop." Later, Rae said the show would "explore life without Lawrence."

"We want to stay as true to life as possible. They had a great conversation at the end of season 2 and it was just about like, hey, she’s moving on Daniel, sometimes we have those conversations," she told Vulture in July. "You never see the exes again. And it’s okay! You gotta explore life without Lawrence.” But imagine the surprise when Lawrence showed up at the end of the latest episode, "High-Like."

Insecure's showrunner, Prentice Penny, gave a huge shout out to Ellis for keeping the secret going for months.

There was also a brief cameo from another favorite, Thug Yoda. And naturally, tweeters were hype as the main man of the first season (and Chad!) appeared on screen again. Check out some reactions from the Lawrence Hive below.
