While Trump is still trying to make Space Force happen, another intergalactic entity is about to take off. Mark your calendars, people: Astroworld is out on August 3rd.

Below are August’s best titles to tide us over these last two days on earth.

Like Father (film)

This goes beyond every bride’s worst nightmare: after being left at the altar, workaholic (Kristen Bell) gets lit with her estranged father (Kelsey Grammar) and takes him on her Caribbean honeymoon cruise.

While the trailer does present a “woke up in a honeymoon suite with no recollection of last night” scenario, rest assured that Veronica Mars and Frasier did not smush booties. But they do have to work through their father/daughter issues in open water, which is just as bad.

Like Father is directed/co-written/co-produced by Lauren Miller Rogen, and co-stars her long-time collaborator and husband Seth Rogen.

Like Father airs August 3 (Astroworld Day) on Netflix Australia.

Insatiable (series)

Patty, a high schooler bullied for her weight, becomes slim over the summer after having her jaw wired shut. Her peers can’t believe it; one shouts, “Patty’s hot!” in disbelief.

To her credit, she’s out for revenge, not to finally kiss Chad. But the internet remains angry at this seemingly unnecessary depiction of fat-shaming and bullying. Creator Lauren Gussis wrote the show based on her own experiences, and says:

“The show is a cautionary tale about how damaging it can be to believe the outsides are more important – to judge without going deeper. Please give the show a chance.”

Insatiable airs August 10 on Netflix Australia.

La Casa de las Flores (series)

Wow, Netflix really went and commissioned a telenovela – and we really cannot wait. La Casa de las Flores (The House of Flowers) follows a wealthy matriarch and her seemingly picture-perfect family. All is well… until her husband’s mistress hangs herself at her flower shop.

Cue one big unwelcome family reunion, in which members are finding out about each other for the first time. The dramatics and costumes are so lurid and over the top, you’ll be clutching at pearls and weeping into silk scarves you didn’t know you had.

La Casa de las Flores airs August 10 on Netflix Australia.

The Package (film)

Five teenagers go on a spring break camping trip. One (definitely the Jim Levenstein of the bunch) wants to impress a girl so badly he back-flops off a cliff. When another (definitely the Paul Finch) accidentally cuts his dick off in the woods, it becomes a race against time to save – you guessed it – the package.

When the film comes from the people behind Workaholics and Tropic Thunder, you know it’s gonna be a good (and gross) one.

The Package airs August 10 on Netflix Australia.

All About the Washingtons (series)

Your mama’s favourite rapper (his words) is back. Sort of.

With Joey Washington (Rev. Run) retiring from hip-hop to take care of the kids, his wife Justine Washington is ready to pursue a career of her own. Wait – is this the plotline of Netflix’s new autobiographical sitcom or The Incredibles 2

Not sure how close to truth they’re planning to get, but it'll be better than this weird music video Rev Run made with Donald Trump.

All About The Washingtons airs August 10 on Netflix Australia

Disenchantment (series)

Is this real life? Matt Groening and Netflix have teamed up for a ten-episode animated series, with an assist from Australia's very own Briggs.

Disenchanted is full of the mythical creatures Groening sketched that just didn’t fit in the Simpsons universe. It follows the misadventures of Princess Bean (Abbi Jacobsen) and her elf and demon companions (Nat Faxon and Eric Andre).

Produced by Futurama’s Josh Weinstein, the show promises to have DNA from both sitcoms, with some new blood, too. Weinstein cites Bojack Horseman and Rick and Morty in particular as influences for Disenchantment’s modern cartoon writing.

Disenchantment airs August 17 on Netflix Australia.

Ozark: Season 2 (series)

Every comedy actor worth their salt will synthesize into serious acting roles at some point. John Krasinski in the thrilling A Quiet Place is a recent example. Jason Bateman’s performance as Marty Byrde, the financial planner turned cartel launderer in Ozark, is another.

The guy has a good poker face. You need one when you’re trying to keep cartel lords and redneck dealers from killing your entire family.

Season one stripped away the Byrdes’ security and normalcy; uprooting them from Chicago to the Ozarks. Season two will test Marty and Wendy’s limits: how far will they go to keep their family safe?

Ozark airs August 31 on Netflix Australia.
