Dave Bautista Reveals He Auditioned for 'a Couple' of 'Star Wars' Movies

“It was always a dream of mine to be in a 'Star Wars' film," Bautista said.

Dave Bautista is already one of the Guardians of the Galaxy but he wants to head to a galaxy far, far away, as well.

"I’ve actually auditioned for a couple of Star Wars[movies] and they’ve turned me down. It was always a dream of mine to be in a Star Wars film," he told Flickering Myth. Although Bautista admits he isn't completely sold on the direction Disney took on Star Wars since buying Lucasfilm in 2012, he does have a soft spot for at least one of the more recent Star Wars movies.

"I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of the latest installments," he said. "I particularly loved Rogue One. I thought it was a really great film and I love that they went a little bit dark with it. I thought it was really interesting."

Although Bautista has landed a bunch of major roles like Guardians of the Galaxy's Drax, Spectre's villain, a Replicant in Blade Runner 2049, and a medical orderly in Hotel Artemis, he might have hindered his chance of getting into another Disney film since he criticized the company for firing James Gunn. The famed director and writer was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after offensive tweets resurfaced. Bautista has been one of the most vocal advocates for Gunn and even asked for Marvel to release him from his contract if Gunn's script isn't used in the film.

But if Star Wars doesn't work out, he might jump off in another franchise. Bautista told the site that he "really wants" to be in the Gears of War movie. He added that he's been "after it for years."
