Netflix's 'Orange is the New Black'

It was only a few days ago when the world was starved of Drake and his new double album. But now that Scorpion has finally dropped, Spotify users literally can’t help but listen to it. Spotify’s aggressive “Scorpion SZN takeover” is the reason you’re probably seeing Drake in playlists such as RapCaviar, Summer Hits, Indie Party, Best of British (it’s an OVO ting, eh?) and Independent Ladies (shout out Drake’s confirmed baby momma!)

Maybe you need a break from Drake. If so, Netflix has you covered. Here are our best picks for July.

The Comedy Lineup (comedy special)

Much like a seven-track rap album, a 15-minute comedy special is all killer no filler. For its new series The Comedy Lineup, Netflix has ordered quarter hour specials from 16 comedians. Part 1 includes sets from Michelle Buteau, Phil Wang, Taylor Tomlinson, Ian Karmel, Jak Knight, Sam Jay, Sabrina Jalees and Tim Dillon.

The Comedy Lineup airs July 3 on Netflix Australia.

White Fang (animated film)

Ever wondered what your pup is thinking when you subject it to a million selfies? White Fang is based on Jack London’s 1906 book, and is mostly seen through the eyes of White Fang, a wild wolfdog. There have been many cinematic remakes over the years, but this one is directed by Oscar winner Alexandre Espigares, and features the vocal talents of Nick Offerman (a wolfman if there ever was one), Rashida Jones, Paul Giamatti and Eddie Spears.

White Fang airs July 6 on Netflix Australia.

Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now (comedy special)

Father Of The Year (film)

Never mind that one of the first Google results for this film is titled, “Awful Trailer for Netflix Comedy ‘Father of the Year’ with David Spade”; fans of Adam Sandler’s goofy studio Happy Madison may still probably find some merit in this film. The latest Netflix x Happy Madison collab doesn’t star its founder, instead casting David Spade as a deadbeat dad who fucks up and then tries to un-fuck up his son’s chances at going to college.

Father Of The Year airs July 20 on Netflix Australia.
