The New York Daily News has retrieved details of the will filed on Wednesday for Anthony Bourdain. The host of the CNN show Parts Unknown reportedly left behind about $1.2 million in known assets for his 11-year-old daughter Ariane. That number includes $425,000 in "cash and savings," $250,000 in personal property, $35,000 in brokerage accounts, and $500,000 in "intangible property including royalties and residuals."
A mortgage liability worth $1 million for an unlisted property is also cited in the will. It is believed that the Manhattan apartment purchased by Bourdain with his now estranged wife Ottavia Busia-Bourdain in 2014.
Busia-Bourdain was listed as the executor of the will. She has been asked to dole out his personal effects, including his cars, furniture, books, and clothes, "in accordance with what [she] believes to have been his wishes." The court will appoint a guardian to protect the money inherited by Ariane. If she died prior to his death, that sum would have gone to her nanny, Myra Quizon.
Bourdain’s will was written in 2016, before his split with Busia-Bourdain.
Bourdain was able to parlay the success of his 2000 book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly into the Food Network show, A Cook's Tour, which premiered two years later. Never one to remain stagnant, Bourdain moved to the Travel Channel where he spearheaded a new series called No Reservations. In 2013, he started Parts Unknown which lasted until his death.
