Less than two weeks following the death of actor Verne Troyer, Mike Myers stopped byJimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about his late friend and co-star.
"Verne was a fantastic human being and—yeah," Myers told Kimmel, before going on to call Troyer a "great physical comedian, a great dancer" and "just a fantastic guy."
The 54-year-old explained how the Mini-Me star brought his famous role life. “As written, Mini-Me is like almost a prop," Myers explained. "But he brought it up off the page, made it better than written and we ended up giving him more and more stuff to do."
Myers talked about Troyer’s large and lasting fan base, including Barack Obama and Justin Trudeau. Myers tells a story of meeting the two leaders, both of whom inquired about Mini-Me.
"Verne brought so much love to people, you know what I mean?" Myers said. "Every day you see him, you go ‘Wow! That is a small human.' But by the end of the day, you just saw Verne. It just sort of went away….He was part of the cast and fantastic. I miss him."
Troyer’s death was announced via Instagram on April 21.
During his visit, Myers also performed a skit impersonating Donald Trump’s doctor Harold Bornstein, while donning a white wig and lab coat. "May I say in the long history of talk-show hosts, you are the most virile and vigorous one of them all," Myers' said to Kimmel, echoing Bornstein’s language used in his 2015 letter commenting on Trump’s “extraordinary” health.
