Asked back in February if the show's team had zeroed in on any particular iteration of the source material for season 2 inspiration, showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker explained that they took a more character-based approach. "I would say not a storyline as much as, OK, say, a character, like Bushmaster, because of his powers and what that represents against Luke," he toldComic Book. "I mean, we took that inspiration, but there wasn't any particular storyline. But the thing is, what's so great about the world of Luke Cage is that there's so many different villains, the challenge is introducing new ones."

Speaking of Bushmaster, we already have you covered in terms of everything you need to know about the new villain. Study up.
