Kendall Jenner Talks to Lana Del Rey About Anxiety, Kylie's Baby, and Social Media Issues

“It’s obviously a bit weird that your little sister is having a baby before you," Jenner says in a new 'Elle' cover story.

In her cover story for Elle Magazine, Kendall Jenner opted out of the typical interview routine and requested to have a conversation with someone she felt a little more comfortable with: singer Lana Del Rey. On the phone, the two chopped it up about their anxieties, Kylie’s new baby, and Kendall’s aversion to social media.

The story quickly explains how the two first met. Lana performed at Versailles four years ago when Kanye requested a special performance for bride-to-be Kim Kardashian. Ever since, the two have been friends, hanging out in the music festival circuit and so on. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, she’s so awesome and, like, magical in person,” Kendall said of her first time meeting Lana.

They might even work together sometime soon. “I’m sure we’ll do something at some point,” Lana said. “It might not even be a video. We have so many mutual friends. It could be something avant-garde, like a little art project.”

The two discussed their anxieties. Kendall has been pretty vocal about the anxiety she deals with on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and says opening up helped more people come forward. “It’s interesting; ever since I said something about being anxious, a lot of people in the spotlight have come to me, being like, ‘Oh my God, me too!’ There’s this community. I take what they do to help themselves and piece it together to find what helps me,” Kendall said. She’s practiced transcendental meditation, and Netflix binging. “When I’m about to fall asleep, I’ll put on Trailer Park Boys,” she said. “I love it; it’s so stupid.”

Kendall also has a healer friend who “just hangs out at the house for good energy. I got such an amazing vibe from him. I was like, You need to be around me now.”

When Lana begins to gush about how close the Jenner/Kardashian clan is, Kendall doesn’t fail to point out that “it’s forever growing.” “Every time I think it’s eased up, someone’s popping out a baby,” she said. Her younger sister Kylie gave birth to daughter Stormi in February, and older sis Khloé Kardashian, had daughter True in April.

“It’s obviously a bit weird that your little sister is having a baby before you. I didn’t expect it to happen like this. But it’s beautiful,” she said. “It’s brought us closer together. We’ve always been very close, but we would butt heads all the time. This has made her a bit more loving toward me.”

Toward the end of the interview, Kendall opened up about how much she hates social media and never looks at the comments. “It’s an addiction. I’ll be at dinner with my good friends, and I’ll look at someone on their phone. They’re not texting someone, which I could accept. Maybe they’re talking about something important, or figuring out an email?” she said. “No, they’re on Instagram and Twitter. It really does irk me. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, you don’t need to see what everyone else is doing! It’s not like you’re sitting in bed right now.’ I strive to not be that person—to not live my life on my phone."

"A couple of years ago, someone started using Kylie’s and my pages as a way to promote themselves," she went on. "At first, I was annoyed by it, but now I feel like it’s a blessing—it’s trained me to not look at my comments, ever.”
