David Beckham still isn't over Deadpool's joke about him in the 2016 film. But he'd never let the Merc with a Mouth know it.

In the latest ad spot for Deadpool 2, viewers see the former soccer star re-watching the scene where Deadpool insults him to Blind Al. "You ever heard David Beckham speak?” says Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool. "It’s like he mouth-sexed a can of helium."

Now, it seems Deadpool is trying to get back in Beckham's good graces. "Hey Sorry," reads a text from the antihero. "Forgive Me," reads another followed by a kissy emoji. It's not enough though. Luckily, Deadpool was already prepared with a few backup plans. He comes to Beckham's door with milk and cookies to apologize before getting the door slammed in his face. In another attempt, he brings a bunch of red balloons but he clearly (ill-advisedly so) sucked in some helium. "Too soon?" he asks in a high-pitched voice. "Yeah too soon." Deadpool returns with a serenading mariachi band but even that isn't enough.

But in the end, Deadpool has just the thing to win back Beckham's love: two tickets to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. "I can't wait to not watch Italy play The Netherlands," says Deadpool. "I can't stay mad at you," replies Beckham as they go in for a hug.

But then, Beckham asks Deadpool what he's apologizing for (as if he doesn't know). Deadpool mentions the joke and Beckham lies that he didn't hear it. Ha! What did he think Deadpool/Reynolds was apologizing for? Green Latern, R.I.P.D., Selfless, Blade Trinity, and Boltneck. But the last one is where Reynolds drew the straw. "Boltneck was a masterpiece!" he yells. It sure was.
