‘Black Panther' and ‘Stranger Things’ Dominate MTV Movie & TV Awards Nominations

Tiffany Haddish will host the affair on June 18.

MTV has announced the nominations for its annual MTV Movie & TV Awards. The lineup includes some of the biggest pop culture moments of the past year with Ryan Coogler’s history-makingBlack Pantherand Netflix’s fan favorite Stranger Things coming out on top with the most nominations.

The awards show will be hosted in Los Angeles on June 18, and will be worth watching if only for the fact that the hilarious Tiffany Haddish is hosting the night. Haddish also snagged a nomination for Best Comedic Performance and Scene Stealer for her role as Dina in Girls Trip.

This is the second year the award show has included TV series, having nixed its old title, the MTV Movie Awards, in 2017. The show also shook things up by eliminating gendered categories and opting for broader, more nontraditional awards.

Black Panther is the most nominated project overall, with seven noms including Best Movie and Best On-Screen Team. Chadwick Boseman is nominated for Best Performance in a Movie and Best Hero, while Letitia Wright is nominated for Scene Stealer, and Michael B. Jordan for Best Villain. This is the first award show to include Black Panther in its nominations since it came out in February.
