Amazon is trying to corner the nostalgia market by announcing two new animated series coming to their streaming service—Dreamworks' The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny. According to Deadline, the Rocky and Bullwinkle series is expected to be released on May 11 while Kung Fu Panda appears to be looking at a debut sometime later this year.
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends originally aired in 1959. Even though the series concluded its run in 1964, syndication allowed for future generations to enjoy the show. This Rocky and Bullwinkle reboot will hopefully wash the terrible taste left behind by the 2000 film, starring Robert De Niro, Jason Alexander, Piper Perabo, and Rene Russo. If you never happened to see it, consider yourself one of the lucky ones.
Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny tells the story of four pandas who discover a “mystical cave beneath Panda Village, accidentally absorbing the chi of ancient and powerful kung fu warriors known as the Four Constellations,” per Deadline. Their newfound powers will help aid in their battle to save the world from an evil force. Meanwhile, our unconventional hero Po is tasked with trying to teach these kids how to best utilize their skills. Needless to say, these children aren’t in good paws, er, hands.
