'Infinity War' Will Give Disney the Fastest $1 Billion Year in Movie History

The film has pulled in nearly $40 million already.

Thanks to Marvel films Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, Disney is going to be the first studio to cross the $1 billion-mark at the box office this year, Deadline reports. They've earned $953.2 million this year following the $39 million that Infinity War brought in on Thursday night.

There's no way Infinity War isn't making at least $11 million over this weekend. When it does, Disney will set the industry record for the fastest domestic $1 billion in a year at 117 or 118 days. This bests the previous record of 128 days, which was also set by Disney. This will also be the third year in a row that Disney becomes the first to bring in $1 billion domestically.

Estimates put Infinity War at taking in between $90 to $100 million on opening Friday. The majority of Disney's $1 billion so far is thanks to Black Panther ($683.6 million). Mouse House also had $102.9 million in box office carryover fromStar Wars: The Last Jedi.
