While superhero fans are practically ready to spontaneously combust waiting for next week's theatrical release of Avengers: Infinity Warthere is another superhero blockbuster releasing next month that also has garnered its fair share of anticipation, Deadpool 2. Director David Leitch recently sat down with Fandango for an exclusive interview to discuss how the second installment differs from its predecessor, what to expect from X-Force, the antihero's trademark fourth wall-breaking punchlines, and more.

The original Deadpool told the origin story of the hero, but Leitch said he wanted to make sure the sequel's story was also worthy of being  in the fray of other big summer blockbusters like Infinity War and Solo. "We did our best to expand the action, and in a general sense, just make it bigger. In terms of the tone, and the fun and the DNA of a Deadpool movie, you're going to get everything you expect and more," he said.

One of the things from the upcoming film fans are most looking forward to is the storyline of the Ryan Reynolds-played protagonist weaving itself into the X-Men Universe with the inclusion of the X-Force, but Leitch says there is still a slight difference between the two groups of heroes.

"There's a real defining line between what's right and wrong, and how to get things done, and sometimes things are gray and you have to fight dirty. I think that the X-Force is leaned into a little bit more of the amoral code, like Deadpool," he says.

Overall, Leitch responded with very generalized answers to the questions thrown his way, making sure to keep any significant details hidden until viewers' eyes get to see for themselves in the theaters. Still, he assured there would be some X-Men tie-ins throughout the film to help further expand the universe for the future. The director also discussed Zazie Beetz, who made a name for herself playing Van on the hit television series Atlantaand her role as Domino. "She adds her own spin to it," he said. "She went through all of the stunt training that we put our actors through, and she was quite remarkable at delivering action scenes."

X-Force members Shatterstar, Zeitgeist, and Bedlam will also all be making their series debuts, while Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus return to the action.

Fans eager for the film's full story will get the chance to experience it when Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18. Check out the rest of Leitch's interview here.
