People Were Loving Lakeith Stanfield's Surprise Onstage Appearance at the Oscars

The 'Get Out' star's appearance was one of the night's early highlights.

By now, we're all familiar with the stale routine of background music being played to usher awards show winners off stage during acceptance speeches that run too long. In one of the first sketches during Sunday night's 90th Academy Awards, however, host Jimmy Kimmel explained that wouldn't be the case this time around.

"This year, if your speech goes too long, we're not going to play you off stage," Kimmel told the audience. "Instead of music, you will see and hear this..."

On cue, Lakeith Stanfield ran on stage yelling, "Get out!" This, of course, was a reference to his memorable role in Best Picture-nominated film Get Out as Andrew Logan King.

Stanfield—who also stars in Donald Glover's popular FX series Atlanta—immediately became one of Twitter's favorite parts of tonight's Oscars.
