Kristen Wiig may be trading in comedy for action, as the actress is in talks to play the villainess Cheetah in Warner Bros. and DC's Wonder Woman 2, Deadline reports.

Cheetah is Diana Prince's enemy and her powers include superhuman speed, reaction time, strength and durability. The DC comics features four different versions of the villainess: Priscilla Rich, Deborah Domaine, Barbara Ann Minerva and Sebastian Ballesteros. As of now, it hasn't been revealed which iteration the sequel will choose.

There were rumors just a few days ago about the character being added into the script, which has now obviously been confirmed. According to That Hashtag Show, Warner Bros. already started casting for the film ahead of its summer production. They reportedly considered Emma Stone for the role but the actress allegedly passed on the offer. We don't know if there's actually truth to that, but what we do know is that adding Wiig to the cast could be an awesome decision.

The Saturday Night Live alum has more than proven her comedic skills with films and television shows like Bridesmaids, Despicable Me, Ghostbusters, Sausage Party, and Netflix's Big Mouth. But Wiig has also showed that her talent stretches beyond the genre with more dramatic roles in The Skeleton Twins, Welcome to Me, The Martian and Mother! If considered for Cheetah, this will mark the first time she will be playing a wicked villain.

Gal Gadot will be reprising her lead role in Wonder Woman 2, with Patty Jenkins back on board to direct the sequel. It will reportedly be set in the Cold War-era of the 1980s. The original was a massive win, raking in $821 million worldwide. It was the fifth-highest grossing superhero movie at the domestic box office at the time with $412.6 million. But in typical Marvel versus DC fashion, Black Panther just surpassed Wonder Woman in North America, grossing $421.8 million.

Wonder Woman 2 is set for a November 1, 2019 premiere.
