Although the reboot does not have an official writer or director tied to the movie yet, Rodriguez is on board as a producer, and it looks like the franchise is going for an all-out revamping of the story. The reboot will allegedly include a line of books that will coincide with the launch of the TV series and subsequent film. Haughton Mifflin Haucort (HMH) is the owner of the Carmen Sandiego properties, and has paired up with Netflix and Rodriguez to bring the villainous, yet beloved character back to life.

Carmen Sandiego taught me state and global capitals and introduced me to Talking Heads (one of the criminals was a fan, listed in their dossier, probably wore oversized suits)

I loved playing those games as a kid and watching the show. @HereIsGina is a cool choice. pic.twitter.com/6sMvrgPPe7

The Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego?video game series is one of the longest-running games in history, and will likely trigger nostalgia for people who remember discovering "edutainment" in the classrooms, learning about geography, history and math through Carmen's adventures. Former television adaptations of the series have won of 45 daytime Emmy's, and the franchise has been praised for its strong portrayal of a Hispanic female lead.

Because of Carmen Sandiego I learned 180+ countries of the world, their flags & currency + more by the age of 5-6. And because it was a fun game, not cuz I had the type of parents "You have to play an equal amount of time playing educational video games" (god those types sucked) https://t.co/x8Zl47y22m
