Amazon Studios has called for a straight to series order on its first adult animated series Undone. The series will be Amazon's first foray into the world of adult animation, but the studio has recruited creators from Netflix's popular animated series BoJack Horseman to help develop the new show.

Undone was co-created by BoJack showrunner Raphael Bob-Waksberg, and Kate Purdy, who also writes and produces for the show, Deadline confirms. Amazon has cast Rosa Salazar, who starred in Maze Runneras the lead character Alma, who finds her near-death experience has given her a newfound relationship with time. Purdy expressed excitement in getting to tackle a new project saying, “We are grateful to Amazon Studios for the opportunity to tell Alma’s story and follow her as she seeks to find a deeper meaning to her existence.” Categorized as a dramedy, the show will focus on Salazar's character, and her younger sister, voiced by Angelique Cabral, discovering the truth surrounding their father's death.

.@katypurdy is a visionary and I am so thrilled I get to help her tell this story. Buckle up — you’re in for an incredible ride, in, like, a year from now. https://t.co/e65z5fwNo6

Michael Eisner's Tornatore Studio will be producing Undone, while Dutch artist Hisko Hulsing will handle animation and production design. Sharon Yguado, Amazon's Head of Scripted Series, was enthusiastic about the team they had assembled to bring the new series to life. “Kate and Raphael are dynamic and creative forces, and I know they will create an amazing series for us. I can’t wait for our customers to see it in 2019," Yguado said.

The series is currently in its pre-production stages and is expected to premiere on Amazon's Prime Video service in 2019.
