19-year-old American Idol contestant Benjamin Glaze recently appeared on the newly revived reality competition show and had quite the memorable experience. During his audition, Glaze revealed that he hadn't yet had his first kiss because "I can't kiss a girl without being in a relationship," but Idol judge Katy Perry decided to change that when she invited him closer to plant a surprise smooch on him.

In the clip, Perry calls out to Glaze to "come here" after learning of his never-been-kissed status, and Glaze appears shocked, but walks up to the judges table to face Perry. Glaze questions, "What, on the cheek?" as Perry leans out with her face turned to the side. He plants one on her cheek, but Perry seemed disappointed there wasn't an audible "smoosh-sound", so Glaze agrees to start over, and just as he goes in for it, Perry turns to face him and Glaze's lips meet her own.

Perry's sneaky peck seemed playful enough, and Glaze even comically fell to the floor in astonishment. When he got up he yelled out, "Katy!" and still looked to be in shock, but was all smiles as fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan laughed and exchanged high-fives with Perry. Now, however, Glaze is saying he "wish he could've waited for someone special."

Glaze spoke to the New York Times about the eventful audition—which incidentally didn't get him past the first round—and admitted that in hindsight, he would have refused if she had asked to kiss him flat-out. Glaze explained, "I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special."

It looks like Perry's surprise smooch wasn't as well-received as she probably had thought.
