It's no secret that McDonald's' retired Szechuan sauce is the official condiment of Rick and Morty. For fans who have been waiting for the sweet dipping sauce’s revival, the wait is almost over. The condiment, introduced in 1998 to promote Disney’s Mulan, is coming back to McDonald's franchises everywhere thanks to the stoner comedy and its unrelenting fans.
A reference to the sauce appeared in the first episode of Rick and Morty’s third season, titled “The Rickshank Redemption.” After the latest season aired, McDonald's gifted series creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon with gallons of Szechuan. In October, the fast food chain teased fans with a limited supply that people went crazy for. McDonald’s tweeted soon after that the sauce would be making a real comeback in the following winter. It appears that they are making good on that promise.
As pointed out by BroBible, McDonald's' staff has been posting photos of the new Szechuan supply.
Get your taste buds ready, because the dipping sauce could be back at McDonald's locations as early a Monday, Feb. 26. Hopefully there's enough to keep everyone satisfied until the 2019 release of Rick and Morty's fourth season.
