Marvel sure knows how to promote, huh? With the social embargo on early reviews for Black Panther currently flooding your Twitter timeline, they decided to drop the official trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the sequel to 2015's Paul Rudd-starring Ant-Man film. While this movie isn't set to hit theaters until July 6, this feels like the perfect time to get us hype for the third film on Marvel's plate in 2018.
While it's hard to figure out exactly when this film takes place, it looks like the stakes have increased. We hear Scott Lang asking Hope if she would've had his back if he called on her during the events of Civil War, and she seems agitated and honest, telling him we'd never know. It looks like, post-Civil War, Hank Pym and his daughter Hope had to go on the lam, as Scott's heightened profile has put everyone in jeopardy. We see Hank Pym doing some wild shit with his Pym Particles (including shrinking a whole skyscraper, which he then uses as a rolling suitcase), as well as Hope finally getting into the action as The Wasp. Her suit is definitely upgraded from the first film, and she's not only got wings, but has blasters, and ultimately feels like the badass superhero Scott really isn't.
As per usual, there isn't much in the way of plot for this one, aside from Ant-Man and the Wasp evading bad guys (and chucking super huge Hello Kitty Pez dispensers at people), but we have some time before this film drops. What will be interesting is that, with Black Panther hitting theaters on February 16, we might have trailers for both Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp gracing the screen. It's a GREAT time to be a Marvel stan.
