Last August, it was announced that Netflix was working on a new show with former Late Show host David letterman, who ended his 33-year run in late-night TV in 2015. Now the show finally has a release date and a title, and we won't have to wait long to see it. Launching Jan. 12 on Netflix, Letterman's new show is titled My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.

It's an appropriate title, especially given the stature of the line-up of guests the trailer teases. The first episode will see Letterman sitting down for a lengthy chat with former U.S. President Barack Obama. The series is also set to include interviews with George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay Z, Tina Fey, and Howard Stern. Due to the nature of the show, new episodes will be released monthly rather than all at once in typical Netflix fashion.

Produced by Letterman's Worldwide Pants Incorporated and RadicalMedia, each episode is an hourlong and will focus on one guest each. With interviews inside and outside the studio setting, the show will also include field segments that relate to each episode's sole guest. "David Letterman is out of retirement and returning to television with a six-episode, 60-minute Netflix series," the announcement of the show reads. "The first episode will premiere on Friday, January 12, 2018 with each subsequent episode streaming monthly from February to June."

The first episode of the show marks Obama's first TV interview since leaving office a year ago, although he talked with Prince Harry on BBC Radio 4 last month.
