Macaulay Culkin made a rare public appearance on the WTF Podcast with Marc Maron. It's been 20 years ago since Culkin left Hollywood life after filming 1994's Richie Rich. But before that, Culkin led a seemingly incredible life as he became one of the most famed child actors and gained BFF status with the Michael Jackson.

The 37-year-old recalled meeting the King of Pop (and oddly enough, Donald Trump) when Culkin was performing The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center in New York City. "He came backstage before the show. He loved dance, he was a dance man. He came backstage with Donald Trump, because they were friendly back then," he said. "I remember he looked at me like, ‘I know you from somewhere. Oh, "Uncle Buck," yeah you’re funny.’ Then after Home Alone came out, he reached out to me and my family."

The two famously became close friends afterward.

"We were friends. We were actually best friends for a stretch of time while I was growing up. It was a legitimate friendship," said Culkin. "He enjoyed my youthfulness. He liked being a kid. He liked being a kid with me. He liked being around kids, and it never struck me as odd."

But while Culkin was easily candid on his time with Michael Jackson, the same doesn't go for MJ's daughter, Paris.

"I am close with Paris. I’m going to warn you now, I am very protective of her so just look out," he said. "I am a very open book when it comes to things but like with her, she is beloved by me. I’m just letting you know if we want to start going down that road it’s going to be a dead-end, you know, but I mean that in the fact that I love her so much. She’s tall, and beautiful and smart. It’s great."

As for Culkin himself, he seems to be doing pretty well. When he's not in New York, he's living in Paris and enjoying his day-to-day life.

"I’m a 30-something retired person walking around with a baguette under my arm. I’m living a good life," he said.

Culkin is also working on the follow-up to his 2006 autobiographical book, Junior, and can be heard on his podcast, Bunny Ears, with his friend Matt Cohen. That is, when he isn't "whatevering" or interrupting wrestling matches.
