Sci-fi fans have been waiting with bated breath for the return of Fox’s The X-Files, and now, just two weeks until the season premier, creator Chris Carter dropped a five-minute trailer for Season 11.

This is the second trailer for the highly anticipated, 10-episode series return, the first of which was released back at New York Comic Con in October. I don’t mean to disappoint you, but the first trailer already hinted at some major plot points. In the new trailer, however, interviews with Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, and Mitch Pileggi give fans more of an insider’s perspective on the upcoming season, which Anderson describes as “more quintessential X-Files.” Scully is still the science-driven skeptic and Mulder the dreamer, and fans will be pleased to know that their signature cheesy banter hasn’t matured during the series absence if clips from the upcoming season are any indication. Plot-wise, there seems to be a hunt for his and Scully’s lovechild (which the first trailer suggested as well), and it would appear that Mulder may have a half-brother: the son of the Cigarette Smoking Man.

X-Files first aired in September 1993. It picked up 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award throughout its ten season tenure. Produced by 20th Century Fox and Ten Thirteen Productions, the cult-favorite was created and executive produced by Chris Carter. If you’re a sci-fi nerd or simply a nostalgic child of the 90s, make sure to tune in on Fox, Wednesday Jan. 3 at 8/7c pm.
