On Monday night, Kevin Hart attended the premiere for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, a sequel to the classic 1995 film starring Robin Williams. During the premiere, Hart was interviewed by Mario Lopez from Extra and Lopez’s daughter Gia, where the comedian opened up about the rough year he’s had in the wake of his extortion scandal.
During the interview, Gia asks Hart if the comedian has been naughty or nice this year. "That's definitely a tough question for Kevin Hart right now. It was a tough year for me," Hart responds. "I had some bumps in the road but the good thing is you take steps backwards to take great steps forwards so now, I recovered from some not nice times, now what I basically want is just for Santa to know that I'm doing good and I'm doing better — I’m a good guy."
Cheating allegations against Hart came out back in July, but it was September when news broke that Hart was caught up in a million dollar extortion scandal by someone who had video of Hart. There is still no confirmation of who is behind the video, but according to the most recent news, Montia Sabbag, the woman in the video with Hart, thinks it could be someone from her crew. Both Hart and Sabbag have taken legal action to protect themselves, while the FBI attempts to catch the blackmailer.
During the scandal, Hart publicly apologized to his family for his actions. Less than a month ago, Hart and his second wife Eniko Parrish welcomed their new son Kenzo to the family. Kenzo is the couple’s first child together.
After talking about his year, the conversation moved back to Jumanji. "We got to do a movie that already had a big following, people loved it and it had such an amazing actor in the first one, Robin Williams and we wanted to make sure that we paid homage to the late, great Robin Williams," Hart said.
Jumanji hits theaters December 20.
