Of Course MTV Is Resuscitating 'Jersey Shore'

MTV is like the guy who graduates college but still hangs out at keggers when he's 39 and rambles about how much sex he had as a freshman.

MTV is hell-bent on ignoring the fact that it’s 2017. The once-great network has spent the entire year digging through its archives for '00s hits to revive, often with what might generously be described as the exact opposite of success. We won't even mention what they've done to TRL.

This week, MTV took a slightly safer bet by confirming a 2018 launch of Jersey Shore Family Vacation. According toDeadline, the bulk of the original cast will return for the sake of nostalgia or whatever. Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Deena Nicole Cortese, Jenni "JWOWW" Farley, Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro have all been confirmed for the reunion.

The original Jersey Shore ran from 2009 to 2012 and was of course set in New Jersey. No word yet on where, exactly, the cast is taking this "family vacation" or whether we should expect a new theme song from LMFAO.

MTV recently launched another new series from the same minds behind Jersey Shore. The terrifyingly titled Floribama Shore brings Alabama and Florida together for some shore-set shenanigans.

If we're solely in the business of mining past successes now instead of, you know, actually doing new shit, why not dig all the way back to 2005 and revive the short-lived Damage Control hosted by Pierre Bouvier? Only true MTV historians remember this underappreciated masterwork; it must be revived.
