"No further consideration will be given to this issue," says the judge.

There's yet another plot twist in the story documented in the hit Netflix docu-series Making a Murderer. The series' primary protagonist, Steven Avery, is currently in jail for the murder of Teresa Halbach. However, many people, including at least one juror in his original 2007 case, think that Avery was framed.

In June, Avery's lawyer Kathleen Zellner filed a lengthy petition asking for a new trial. However, on Tuesday, a Wisconsin judge turned it down, saying that the petition's over 1,200 pages did not provide enough evidence.

"The defendant has failed to establish any grounds that would trigger the right to a new trial in the interests of justice," said Judge Angela Sutkiewicz.

Zellner says this is not the end of the road.

"We are filing an amended petition because we have additional test results and witness affidavits. The scientific testing is not completed. We remain optimistic that Mr. Avery's conviction will be vacated," she said in a statement.
