ABC's 'The Mayor'

In ABC’s new comedy The Mayor, aspiring rapper Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall) finds himself in a truly unique situation. Having spent years trying to break into the hip-hop game, Courtney still hasn’t gotten a foot in the door. So he decides to attempt a publicity stunt where he runs for mayor of his hometown, in the hopes that it will get him enough shout-outs in the press and plugs on social media to give his music career the push that it needs.

But there’s one thing Courtney didn’t count on happening—actually getting elected.

Now, as the town’s very young and very inexperienced new mayor, Courtney finds himself as the unlikely hero his city has been looking for.  While he’s clearly in over his head, Courtney is about to embark on a truly funny and deeply refreshing journey of self-discovery, where he ultimately realizes he possesses a very real ability to lead. Along for the ride are Courtney’s mother (Yvette Nicole Brown) and his friends (Bernard David Jones, Marcel Spears, and Glee’s Lea Michele)—all of whom have his back, even when the people of the city may not. With a little effort and a whole lot of luck, Mayor Courtney Rose may just finally be able to bring his hometown the #hope and #change it’s been looking for.

The stellar creative team behind The Mayor includes Daveed Diggs (Tony winner for Broadway’s Hamilton), Jeremy Bronson (Speechless, The Mindy Project), Jamie Tarses (Happy Endings) and James Griffiths (black-ish). You can check out the trailer here, and learn more about the show at its official site. And be sure to tune in Tuesday, October 3 at 9:30|8:30c when The Mayor premieres, only on ABC!
