Hulu unleashed the first trailer for its upcoming Marvel show, Runaways, on Thursday. It’s our first real peek into the world of six teenaged frenemies who are forced to unite to fight against their evil parents—and it looks like Hulu really pulled it off this time.

The trailer, which you can view above, is filled to the brim with nods to the comics that are sure to impress die-hard fans of the source material. The trailer also reveals just what kind of evil the parents are up to, and it looks like some creepy, basement cult, sacrifice type of shit. It's bizarre as hell.

We also get a preview of what everyone’s powers and signature weapons will be, and everything looks just as awesome as we’ve come to expect of Marvel live action. And if you look closely, there’s another major reveal: Old Lace, Gert’s dinosaur, will definitely make an appearance, so that's something to be excited about.

All in all, the trailer sets up some pretty high stakes, even if we don’t know yet what exactly they will be or just how the creators have adapted the comics. And although this is Hulu’s first venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we know that the folks over there know how to bankroll a good adaptation, as evidenced by their Emmy-winning show The Handmaid’s Tale.

Runaways is helmed by executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, of The O.C. and Gossip Girl fame. The comic books the show is based off of were written by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona. The 10-episode show is set to premiere on Hulu on Nov. 21; the first three episodes will be immediately available, while the remaining seven will be released one week at a time.
