Jim Carrey is currently involved in a lawsuit that alleges he is responsible for the death of his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White. Mark Burton, White's ex-husband, has claimed that the famed comedian and actor provided the drugs Percocet, Propranolol, and Ambien to White, who subsequently overdosed on them and died. The trial has been set to begin on April 26, 2018.

White's mother, Brigid Sweetman, is claiming that Carrey gave her daughter three sexually transmitted diseases. Carey has denied all the allegations.

TMZ reports that the actor is saying that the charges of him giving White herpes is not only false, but was an attempt to extort him for millions of dollars. Carrey alleged that White had herpes previous to them beginning a relationship, and that she used bumps received from a bad wax job as false evidence against him. The lawsuit claims that Carrey's actions, which include pressuring White to keep quiet any STD talk, drove her to suicide.

Carrey was in the news recently after giving a bizarrely existential interview to E! News' Catt Sadler while on the red carpet of Harper's Bazaar's party during New York Fashion Week. "There's no meaning to any of this. So I wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join and here I am," Carrey said.
