Deadpool lovers, gather 'round, for we have great news to share with you. According to Deadline, the crass but endearing title character of the box-office busting 2016 film is set to lead a black ops task force in the newly announced X-Force film. Written and directed by Drew Goddard for Fox, X-Force will be an X-Men spinoff that revolves around Deadpool as he guides a gaggle of mutant warriors into missions of guaranteed badassery. Goddard has dabbled in the superhero realm before: he launched the Daredevil series for Netflix.

The character Cable, portrayed by Josh Brolin, will lead the crew alongside Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. Cable will first make an appearance in Deadpool 2, which has an anticipated release date of June 1, 2018.

Simon Kinberg, a producer and screenwriter for multiple X-Men installments, will be producing alongside Reynolds and fellow X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner. The news of X-Force's forthcoming arrival is a pretty big deal for a few reasons: 1) We're getting more Deadpool, which is absolutely for the best for everyone; 2) This proves Cable, who actually ran the force in the comics, isn't going to be a one-and-done character in Deadpool 2; and 3) This means Fox is on track to build the X-Force into an entity in and of itself, further fleshing out the X-Men universe.

While this announcement is huge and revelatory alone, it does bring about a few questions. Like, who else will be on the team? Zazie Beetz's Domino has already been revealed for Deadpool 2, and the character has been a member of X-Force in the comics. Does this mean she's back? And will any of the X-Force members be announced in Deadpool 2? Only time will tell, but for now, we'll let ourselves feel a bit of excitement.
