Last week, a select group of lucky fans got an advance look at Marvel’s new eight-part limited series The Defenders, which drops on Netflix today.
The Defenders unites the lead superheroes of Netflix’s four core Marvel series— Iron Fist (Finn Jones), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Luke Cage (Mike Colter)—who must learn to work together in order to save New York City from a dire new threat: an evil crime syndicate known as The Hand. Also making appearances in The Defenders are other key characters from Marvel’s four flagship Netflix series, including Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), Elektra (Élodie Yung), and the mysterious Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver). Needless to say, this is going to be one epic collaboration, and the series is definitely not to be missed.
At the special premiere screening of the show, guests arrived at a loft located in Downtown New York City, which was right on the Hudson River and featured some pretty sick views. They were immediately welcomed with a roster of complimentary specialty cocktails, including vodka-based rosemary lemonade, jalapeno cucumber margaritas, cold brew Thai coffee spiked with some delicious tequila and “Italian Summer”, a tasty concoction made from moscato, prosecco, Campari and fresh grapefruit.
With drinks in hand, guests grabbed themselves a snack—which ranged from traditional movie theater fare like popcorn to more unique offerings like veggie hummus and soft pretzels with pale ale cheese—and settled in for the premiere screening of The Defenders episode 1. Daredevil (Charlie Cox) & Iron Fist (Finn Jones) surprised guests and introduced the episode! Once the screening was finished, attendees engaged in a casual conversation about how excited they were to see more of the show, and even snapped a few pics in a photo booth that was on site to share with their friends.
