UPDATED 2:45 p.m.: Sophie Turner has issued a statement on the video in question. "I used the word 'motherf*ckers' in a recent video posted in an Instagram story and not a hateful racial slur that has been suggested," Turner clarified to the Cut Tuesday afternoon. "I am incredibly upset that anyone would think otherwise, and I want to make it clear that I would never use such an abhorrent word."

A video of Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has inspired outrage on Twitter. The short clip, filmed at a gym and also including Joe Jonas, sees Turner addressing the camera and smiling. Though off-camera laughing and mumbling makes Turner's words a little hard to hear, some are convinced that Turner says "n****" in the clip:

Others have argued that Turner is instead saying some variation of "mothafuckas." At the time of this article's publication, Turner had not publicly clarified or otherwise addressed the video.

The original poster of the clip, in a DM to a fan, said Turner said "Motherfuckerssssss."

Back in February, Turner made a joke about pansexuality on Instagram that did not go over well. In a follow-up post, Turner said the joke—which was briefly interpreted as Turner's coming out—was "merely a pun."

Turner added that coming out "shouldn't even be a thing," which also did not go over well.
