Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are expecting their first child together. As revealed in Us Weekly Wednesday, the moment Montag told Pratt she was pregnant involved a highly relatable instance of momentary confusion regarding muffins and banana bread. As fate would have it, neither muffins nor banana bread ended up being consumed that morning.
"The look on her face, I can't even describe it," Pratt told Us Weekly. "She was literally glowing. I thought she was about to say she made muffins or banana bread." When Montag revealed she was pregnant, Pratt put banana bread in its place. "I was like, 'Whoa, that's way more exciting than banana bread!'" he recalled.
The reality of it all, Montag added, is just starting to sink in. "I've read every pregnancy book, and now I realize I don't know anything," she said. The couple first considered having a baby three years ago, but Pratt was hesitant. "Then one thing after another came up," Montag said. "We had work obligations, like Celebrity Big Brother in the U.K., which I did not want to be pregnant for. I'm actually really thankful we waited. I thought I was ready in my twenties, but with everything we had going on, it just wouldn't have been a good situation for us." The married Hills alumni's first child is due Oct. 19. Montag is hoping for a boy.
Speaking with Complex back in 2015, Pratt and Montag opened up about the possibility of children. "Right now we may be going into another jungle. Or we may be doing Celebrity Big Brother All Star," Pratt told Andrew Gruttadaro. "Those are huge checks in the real world. Heidi couldn't be on a series right now pregnant. I'm just realistic." Montag added that she and Pratt briefly had a plan to start trying to conceive that September, but ultimately decided against it. "My real priority in life is my marriage," she said at the time.
Congrats! I suggest we all celebrate with muffins and banana bread.
