It’s been more than three years now since Paul Walker died. And while there is apparently a life-size statue of the Fast & Furious star floating around out there (anyone want to spend $4,000 on it?!), there hasn’t been a city or town anywhere in America that has erected a statue in Walker’s honor. Two surf bros are on a mission to change that.

Those two surf bros, Chad and Bodhi, appeared in front of the city council in San Clemente, California recently to ask the city to consider building a huge 12-foot statue of Walker on a pier. In a six-minute clip that was posted on Facebook by the San Clemente Times, Chad and Bodhi made separate arguments for why a Walker statue should be a no-brainer.

"I’ve witnessed first-hand the ever-growing divide between Americans and families torn apart by political differences," Chad said, shortly after saying "what up council?" while introducing himself. "It’s in times like these we need a unifying figure we can all turn to, a beacon of headlights that can guide us down the dusty road."

Chad went on to break down how the original F&F helped him get over a bad breakup, before pointing out how some of Walker’s other movies, including Meet the Deedles, 8 Below, and Into the Blue, inspired him. Then, Bodhi reiterated many of Chad’s points. He stole his "beacon of headlights that can guide us down a dusty road" line and talked about how he has heard Walker’s cousin went to a local high school, thus necessitating the need for a Walker statue in the town.

If you’re thinking, "This sounds like one big joke," you’re actually right. Sadly, Chad and Bodhi are not the Paul Walker fans we thought they were when we first saw the clip above, which has since gone viral. Rather, they’re the pranksters behind the internet show, Chad Goes Deep. But the San Clemente city council didn’t know that, so believe it or not, they actually took some time to consider the proposal the two brought forth before ultimately deciding to shoot it down.

"I’m a big fan of Paul Walker, don’t get me wrong," Mayor Pro Tem Tim Brown said. "But no. Sorry, bro."

Sad times. But don’t worry. It sounds like Chad and Bodhi have been trying this same trick at other city council meetings in the area. And at some point, someone has to say yes, right? Keep trying, bros.
