Ryan Seacrest found himself trapped in an elevator the morning before New Year’s Eve on his way to a taping of Good Morning America. In a series of posts on social media, the TV personality shared video footage of the incident he experienced Friday morning with a handful of production staff.

If getting stuck in an elevator beneath the ball in Times Square before New Year’s Eve isn’t a foreboding omen of things to come, I don’t know what is. Nevertheless, true to form, Seacrest smiled his way through the reportedly 40-minute ordeal.

Ultimately, Seacrest and company were rescued by firefighters who pried the doors open and set them free.

Despite his cheerful visage, Seacrest later confessed being stuck stopped being funny pretty fast.

"I will tell you this, if you've ever been stuck in an elevator, it's funny and cute for about 10 minutes," Seacrest said. "And then about 20 minutes in, it's not so funny anymore. But thank you to the fire department who came and rescued us and pried those doors open."

Unless another omen strikes Seacrest, he will be hosting Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2017 from Times Square in New York City.
