Ridley Scott just gave Alien fans the ultimate Christmas present. The first trailer for Alien: Covenant—the latest installment in Scott’s space horror franchise—hit the web today, and it’s just as terrifying as the previously released teaser had suggested.
The film—which takes place after Prometheus but before the events of the 1979 original—chronicles the crew of a colony ship who “discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world.” Michael Fassbender returns as David, the android from Prometheus, and the new world’s sole inhabitant.
This past summer, Fassbender told Collider that Alien: Covenant is “much scarier” than Prometheus, and has “more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films.”
He’ll be joined by Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, and Amy Seimetz. Alien: Covenant hits theaters May 19. Watch the trailer above.
