Johnny Depp has been cast in the planned sequel for J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, reportedDeadline. What was first going to be a fun extra movie for Potter fans has recently been upgraded to a five film franchise, Rowling announced.

Depp’s role has not been revealed, but according to Deadline it will be a “co-starring” role. Depp may even appear in this month’s Fantastic Beasts, albeit briefly. Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne will be back to lead the Fantastic Beasts sequel, reprising his role as Newt Scamander.  The first Fantastic Beasts will follow Scamander, a magizoologist, on his search for magical creatures after his briefcase accidentally releases them all in 1920’s New York City.

The film, and its planned sequel, will have director David Yates at the helm. Yates directed the final four Harry Potter films. Yates recently revealed the sequel will see Scamander in another “big capital city.”

Depp will take up his Fantastic Beasts role before starting as a detective in Labyrinth, a film about the unsolved murders of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G.

Watch the trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them starring Eddie Redmayne, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, and Katherine Waterston, and catch the film in theaters Nov. 18.
