Holy shit. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has confirmed that this month's relentlessly hyped The Walking Dead premiere will actually include multiple deaths at the hands of his bedazzled bat Lucille. For those wagering money on who exactly is biting the AMC dust on the season 7 debut, now's probably a
good great time to tweak your bets.
"Negan's not just going to kill one person in [the premiere]," Morgan told Den of Geek during a recent chat ahead of New York Comic-Con. "He's not afraid of bashing in skulls." Unless the show is planning a sleuthy move like introducing a new character just to have them immediately killed off, this might mean we're going to have to do double duty on the post-premiere mourning.
"You're going to see your heroes, the people that you've grown to love, in a place that you've never seen them before," Morgan added. "Negan's taken over and it shows. You're going to see the character that you love going through hell. There's never been a shake-up like this on the show."
So will it be retired pizza delivery boy Glenn? Maggie? One-eyed Carl!?!? We can't tell you that, but we do know Morgan elaborated on the doom and gloom a bit more during his recent chat with Complex. According to Morgan, the cliffhanger-answering episode will impolitely "grab you by your throat and not let go," which sounds like terrific fun.
"Negan is sort of a special breed because I think there's so much charisma with him," Morgan told Complex of the character, which he considers the hardest role he's ever had. "He will charm your pants off in these kind of speeches that he gives, very charismatic, and the next thing you know, if you're lulled into any sense of anything, you're going to get Lucille smashed across your face."
Find out who gets their faces smashed in when The Walking Dead returns to AMC Oct. 23.
