John Wick: Chapter 2 doesn't hit theaters until February, meaning the safe assumption here is that you haven't seen it yet. But that's a mere technicality for the team behind the brewing franchise, as director Chad Stahelski revealed revealed at New York Comic-Con that a John Wick 3 is already in development.
"The studio has asked us to put our heads together and see if we can come up with something," Stahelski confirmed to Collider. "Winston's [Ian McShane] is a big part of the next one, so is Lance Reddick. We've got some ideas." This putting-together of heads will, if our Keanu Reeves expertise is to be trusted, absolutely result in more cool shit such as this:
As for next year's Chapter 2, Stahelski said he didn't really hit his creative stride until he had scrapped approximately 10 bad ideas. "Once we stopped worrying about ourselves, it was fun," Stahelski told Collider. "Is it as good as the first one? I don't know, that's personal opinion. Did we go better in some ways? Yes. Did we explore the character more? Yes. It's better, I think, technically. Is the enjoyment better? Yes, it's there, but it's completely different."
Reeves himself, also speaking to Collider earlier this year, previously hinted that the story of John Wick may continue for many years to come. "I can't say that we're not geeked about continuing the idea and the character," Reeves said in April. "John suffers ... and he always fights back. Yes, we talk about what could be cool to take it to the next level."
