Much like audiences—at least the ones who don’t know how to let a good thing die—HBO wants a second season of this summer’s hit series The Night Of, HBO president of programming Casey Bloys said. The drama miniseries was led by breakout star Riz Ahmed, who will appear in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Bloys toldVariety a second season of The Night Of would “absolutely” be welcomed. “The only issue with doing another season is for them to come up with an idea that excites them. Steve [Zaillian] and Richard [Price] are talking and sharing ideas,” Bloys said about the The Night Of’s director and writer. “I think it’ll be a longer process, probably. Both of them take their time and will only do something they’re really passionate and excited about. They’re not going to do another season just to do another season.” (Though it should be noted the BBC series from which The Night Of was adapted, Criminal Justice,  had a second season.)

The Night Of followed the case of Pakistani-American college student Nasir “Naz” Khan, who was charged for the murder of a young woman. Through Naz’s case viewers get a look at the often disappointing inner workings of the justice system, prison, and more. John Turturro stars as an eccentric, underestimated lawyer and Michael K. Williams as a charismatic prison inmate.

Asked if a second season of the show would again focus on one case Bloy said, “I don’t know. My guess is, it would be [one case in a season]. I think they’re talking about a lot of different variations, so at this point, all I know is that they’re talking about it. They haven’t come to us with anything. They’re just trying to get themselves excited about a take.”

Bloys also said he hoped Turturro would be tapped for season two, saying, “I think that’s what they’re thinking. But all of it is speculation at this point.”
